Just when you thought Diecast Life was no more… anyway, Forbes has a nice list of what it thinks is the hottest look for cars of these with means. Heck, maybe some without those means cause some of those cars are pretty affordable… and others aren’t.
I haven’t done a look for which cars have a diecast replica of them, but I will soon.
Oh and as for the blog, I will be posting here and there, but I think there will be some special SPECIAL things down the road. I love my scale model cars and dioramas and I hope there are many others who also love the diecast game too.

2008 Buick Enclave Pictures and Images – ForbesAutos.com

I am in love with this SUV. I saw it at the auto show and it is a very handsome car. Now Buick doesn’t usually get people who are unde… say 60… excited about it, but this one right here is very excitable to those who are a wee bit younger.
Now I don’t know what the neighbors would say about a guy in his late 20’s driving around in a Buick, but who cars! Besides, didn’t you here that Buick is tied to Lexus for the number one spot in car reliability for 2004? What’s that got to do with 2008? Well maybe the quality didn’t go down hill after 2004… lol
Diecast cars and vehicles tend to have the cars that most of the general population would be excited about or special sports cars that car enthusiasts will enjoy… so i don’t know how this car would fit in. In fact, I don’t see any Buicks beyond 1970’s in diecast form.
Well, I say build it. At least have a model kit that is detailed so I could build it myself.

Ladies and gentalmen… idCow now has the diecast 2007 Cadillac Escalade.
2007 Cadillac Escalade diecast model SUV 1:18 scale diecast by Hot Wheels
Price: $39.99
Holy freaking cow!!! Ok, here is the thing: when it comes to looking for diecast cars, trucks and SUV’s, I go to either Diecast Fast.com or Diecast Muscle.com. That’s it. If I’m looking for vehicles that are related to real life cars and trucks but have more imagination (like for example, MASK or GI Joe), then I have a host of sites to look at from Amazon to Banana Toys.com. Well, while browsing around for cars for another article, I came across idCow. I think i have been here before but for some reason, I wasn’t impressed. Well now I am.
They have thousands to diecast cars, trucks, planes, slot cars, tv cars and SUV’s. Its official, idCow needs to be one of my affiliates LOL
I love them!
Here is a list of the top ten sellers:
- 1964 Shelby Cobra 427 S/C
- 2006 Yamaha YZR-M1 #46
- 1970 Dodge Charger
- 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz
- 2001 Saleen S7
- 2006 Ferrari Formula One F1 #5
- 1967 Shelby GT500E Eleanor
- 2007 Cadillac Escalade
- 2000 Smart Fortwo Coupe
- Speed Racer Mach 5
The Cadillac Escalade is 8th? Wha….???
HotWheels isn’t usually known for detailed diecast, but they give it a shot for the Escalade. I am surprised Jada Toys doesn’t have the Escalade (in showroom form and in street street style form like they did with the Dodge Magnum and the Dodge Challenger) . Look at this detail:

From idCow.com
There are more pictures of the vehicle on the site. Now for the down side. The interior looks fake! lol All 4 doors do not open. I expect a diecast car I’m buying for 40 bucks or more has all 4 doors (if it has 4 doors) to open.
Over all, this is a really nice diecast car. Plus the details on the outside make up for SOME of the wrong doing on the inside of the diecast vehicle. I can’t get over all 4 doors not opening, but do you put your cars on the wall or desk with the car doors open? So I’ll give them a sort of pass there… sort of pass, but not total pass.
Jada Toys… PLEASE get the licensing AND MAKE THIS DIECAST CAR A REALITY!!! And make sure the wheels steer this time. Just because its sitting on dubs doesn’t mean it can’t have steering.

2006 Chevy Camaro Concept Highway Patrol (DUB City)
Scale: 1/18 – Price: 28.99
Did you see the movie Transformers? Did you see Barricade do his business? Well, this model would kick his butt… especially since the scale size is bigger. Anyway, I like this scale model because of the detail and the fact that its also a police cruiser. You don’t see many cruisers like this one. I barely see the Dodge Magnum or Charger as a cruiser. Jada Toys seems to to be taking the whole diecast industry by storm with its ideas cause you are not going to find diecast vehicles like that from many model companies.
I just wish the let the car have wheels that steer… you here me Jada Toys??!!! Yeah, I know I aint gonna drive the thing, but its just cooler if they had stearing.

2006 Mercedes-Benz CL-Klasse – Silver (AUTOart)
Scale: 1/18 Cos: 72.99
WOW!!!
YES! Finally its here. Its probably been out for a while but I didn’t know (I’m relatively new to this scale model business). This is great. Plus, Autoart has made it so you know its going to be good.
Diecast Fast.com has other models and colors in the 2006 version of Mercedes Benz new look (with those humps over the tires… I didn’t like that at first, but they won me over after a while). For example, they have the Benz S500 4 door from AutoArt with interior carpet (of course). The title says 2004, but the car picture looks like the new Mercedes Benz style… maybe a typo?
I can’t wait until someone comes out with the new Benz style for the CLS and the other coupes.

2006 Dodge Challenger Concept
Scale: 1/18
This has got to be one of the hottest car releases EVER! (or at least close to it). In my great and honest opinion this scale model is so smooth that even a picture of it against a real background almost confuses you to think the car is real.
While this is a concept, many pictures and blog posts from AutoBlog says that it will pretty much look like this. I am not sure when this scale model came out, but its here and I am loving it. Opening doors, hood, turning wheels and steering. The car is so good that it gets reviewed on the site.
The details are just AMAZING! Heck, even the trunk has interior carpeting.
You guess need to take a look at this.

Cadillac Imperial from Diecast Muscle.com

Price: 120.00
Scale 1/24
Free shipping from Diecast Muscle
Another classic from the Franklin Mint. While the site doesn’t offer much detail about the scale car, I can ony imagine that its a real detail model (especially considering the price and the maker of this vehicle).
This would look good with other post 1929 crash era of US car history. Somehow I can see the movie scene for this too. Very unique. A bit of history and Hollywood at the same time.

Rolls Royce Phantom I by the Franklin Mint
Price: 135.00
The one and only! This diecast seems to have it all. You should see the picnic sheet and basket that comes with this. You can almost imagine the scene being played out in your mind.
Here is a destription from the site:
Own the definitive die-cast replica of the only motor car luxurious, powerful and quiet enough to succeed the fabled Silver Ghost. From the sterling silver-plated “Spirit of Ecstasy” mascot and scale-size picnic basket to the running board tool chest that actually opens, it took 144 separate components to create this spectacular showpiece.
It won’t be available until next month and they allow pre-orders. Sometimes if it says next month, it could actually mean that its not ready until a whole month later than that so if your waiting for it, be warned.

Autoblog.com writes a review on a toy made by Ridemakerz. there are plenty of pictures of the toy in question so I think you should head over there and take a look.
Now the toy isn’t realistic or anything like that but I’ll admit its still hot. Ridemakerz is a company just just started maybe a year ago or so. Make your own vehicles much like make your own bear.
My personal opinion is that it could work, but I think its needs something. It needs a little more of a dose of reality but maybe the target market isn’t adult collectors.
I look forward to seeing how this company develops.
